Random rant vol.10: The Jordan Rules-G.O.A.T.

I was born in the 80's so I blessed by the basketball gods to allow me view the real "Jesus Shuttlesworth" of the NBA, Michael Jeffrey Jordan in his prime...this rant stems from people across the internet and in real life conversation saying the Kobe "Bean" Bryant is equal or better than Jordan...now don't get me wrong, Kobe is unquestionably the best in the game right now (kinda pains me to say that cuz i'm not a Laker or Kobe fan)...his athletic ability, scoring tenacity and ferocity towards the game are 2nd to none...but lets get serious and stop the comparisons to the "jumpman logo"...

now my facts to support my absolutely truthful claim are 1) Jordan lead his Bulls teams to 6 titles...i think it would have been 8 straight if he didn't retire and try his hand a baseball...2)he dropped 30.7 ppg in an illustrious career against ridiculous defenses...now lets elaborate on this a little...

the defenses in the 80s and 90s were "playground" like...there was legal hand checking on the perimeter, triple team defenses that mauled you when you stepped in the paint and no one got ejected or fined for very aggressive playoff-type fouls...Jordan even had a specific defense geared specifically for him...this defense was implemented by the Detroit "Bad Boys" Pistons in the 80's, it was called the Jordan Rules...basically it was a defense that was designed to curb the scoring from Jordan by beating the shit out of him for 4 qtrs...he faced this destroying defense in the playoffs for 4 consecutive seasons finally beating the Pistons in 91 on their way to the Bulls 1st title...i'm surprised he played 18+ seasons after the thrashing he got for 14 seasons (the NBA started changed the rules in the latter part of his career i.e. no hand checking, no more "knock your head off fouls", quicker whistles) ...check the video....

and 3) his impact on not only basketball but hip hop, fashion and just all around life... to this very day the Jordan sneakers still have kids that didn't see one of his games going to footlocker buying his kicks...i'm in my late 20's and i still pay top dollar for Jordan's the he rocked in yesteryears...before Jordan, the shorts were crazy small and downright disgusting that grown men rocked "nuthuggers" for shorts....Jordan brought baggier shorts to the NBA and when he was in his first dunk contest he rocked a gold rope chain with the banned black/red Air Jordan I kicks (the look still looks "cold" to this day)...

so stop the arguments!... Jordan will never be surpassed just like there will never be another Muhammad Ali or Tiger Woods...they are once in a lifetime, one of a kind athletes
