Random Rant vol. 45: Tennis shoes are not every sneaker

Its been a long time I shouldn't have left you (to those that still read this blog) and I truly have a random rant for you...This rant is nothing pertaining to anything in popular culture or current news...The rant that has been brewing in my gut for years is why do people call sneakers tennis shoes?...Now I understand at one point in time that the main sneaker that was worn and used for athletic use was actually a tennis shoe...You know the sneaker that was actually for use on a tennis court that professional, avid and amateur tennis players would wear for competition...But in the current 21st century, the year of two thousand and fifteen sneakers are MORE than just tennis shoes...In fact sneakers have been more than just tennis shoes for 90+ years...

One of the most popular shoes of yesteryear and still today is the Converse Chuck Taylor...These shoes were created for basketball use back in the 10s (that's right the 10's as in 1910s) by Chuck Taylor himself who was a basketball player...Now if one of the most popular and most recognizable sneakers that's been around for almost 100 years (created in 1917) is a basketball sneaker then why in the blue, F*$k were and still are referred to as "tennis" shoes?...There have been some genuine tennis shoes that broke into the pop culture and are classic like the Adidas Stan Smith's and that may be the reason why people just refer to sneakers as tennis shoes...But in actuality that's not a good enough reason because it didn't have the popularity of the Chuck Taylor so again I ask the question why are sneakers referred to colloquially as tennis shoes?!

I don't even have an answer I'm just aggravated by old and even younger people in the huge sneaker culture (we currently live in where sneakers can be basketball shoes, skateboard shoes, casual fashion shoes, racquetball shoes, cross fit shoes, running shoes, etc.) referring the comfortable footwear as TENNIS shoes...They are not just tennis shoes in fact they aren't even tennis shoes, they are most of the time basketball sneakers that look nothing like low top (or midcut) tennis shoes...Just call em sneakers that way you don't have to think about putting the sneakers in a particular category...You will just be generalizing all comfy footwear....Damnit man this is incredibly random and petty but I had to get it off my chest....

P.S. The shoe above is actually a tennis shoe that was worn by Roger Federer, a professsional tennis player.

P.S.S. The kicks are called Nike Air Vapor 9 and that colorway & design was a redesign with the Air Vapor 9 and the classic Air Jordan 3 design...for all my sneakerheads...(I wanted these bad but was limited and didn't get them)

If WE the melanoid people (aka 'black' people) of America and other citizens in this country don't see that we are in a police state then your clearly being naive...this brutality and killing of people in this country by the hands of cops is SYSTEMATIC...its like the officers are given a 'green light' to enforce any level of brutality rather it be over the top physical abuse or flat out killing a person because he/she was a 'threat'...this is complete bullshit that any officer at a high school would pull a young teenager out her desk and SLAM her on the hard floor then drag her...the officer had no remorse because he did this with no hesitation in front of other students over nothing...THIS SHIT AS GOT TO STOP...#NoFoul12...check the vid for the insanity...

Stuff of hilarity: Did Mike Ditka fart on NFL Countdown?!

When you get to a certain age you just don't give 0 F*$s about anything...that includes how people feel when you say something, what anybody thinks of you and apparently farting in public for everyone to hear...this is knee slapping funny (especially for me because I always thought the fart noise was amusing and will til I'm 80 years old)...you be the judge and listen if that's Mike Ditka releasing is toxins in the air (also check Cris Carter's facial expression after the noise)...check it

I grew up watching the Cosby Show with the family every Thursday when the show aired in the 80s to early 90s...Though I remember him as a TV dad as I got older I realized that you must separate a fictional character from the real person...in reality 'Pill' Cosby was gettin super loose with many women with the aid of Quaaludes and livin the life of a mega superstar...anyway, this vid is Bill Cosby guest hosting the Late Show years ago before Sofia Vergara became a household name edited hilariously...check the link (for some reason it won't embed, my bad)

Spreadin the Real - Isiah Thomas on his issues with Pippen

The NBA in the 80s & 90s was incredible...those decades had the legendary players, classic commercials and epic matchups...On this installation of 'Spreadin the Real' Isiah Thomas airs out his grievances on NBATV's Open Court (one of my fav sports shows) about Scottie Pippen not wanting him on the '92 Dream Team...and really it was a damn shame Isiah Thomas was not on that Dream Team in Barcelona...the NBA is Fantastic! The Re-Return of the blog

Well,  if anyone is still checking this blog I would like to say wdup and sorry...I think I stated 2 years ago that I will come back and start making regular blog posts here but to no avail I haven't...Ok I promise this go round that I will start making posting something fairly often...Hell if I can check and post on my IG page (@mlomiracgraf, shameless plug) everyday then I can definitely post some content here...So starting this week I'll start making posts again (feels like I may be talking to myself because I don't think no one's checking this anymore)...gone
