Tip of the week #19: Don't tattoo your face

It seems like 2011 is the year of the tattoo'd face...1st we have Gucci Mane tattooing an ice cream cone with 'BRRR' on its side also with lightning bolts on top (to give it that rockstar look)...2nd we have Yung LA tattooing a duct tape duck on his face (which he later got changed due to him false reppin a gang in Atlanta)...

then there's the dumbest dude on earth who tattoo'd "I smell bitchs" (that's right bitches spelled with no 'e') to go along with the other retarded tats on his head and face...
its just this simple, don't tattoo a DAMN thing on your face...it looks dumb and you look stupid...the only person i've seen with a face tatt that looks remotely decent is Mike Tyson's warrior tatt around his eye...these other dudes are ridiculous, there's even one anonymous dude that tatted the same ice cream tatt on his face as Gucci Mane's!...its gettin stupid out here with the facial tattoos, RZA and Kanye West said it best (look below)...

Random Rant vol. 37: Little facts to fill your mind

(cover to coffee table-like book i'm going to drop)

This rant is just going to be random little facts about any and everything...very interesting stuff to fuel your mind so you can win trivia contests at you local bar (word to $25 gift cards at Wild Wing Cafe)...the facts are from a book called "Sorry, Wrong Answer..." by Ron L. Evans...peep it

1. Black boxes in planes are not black - they are orange. This is to help investigators locate it by sight if necessary after a crash. The name was chosen entirely for humor reasons.

2. The sound you hear when you snap your fingers is not caused by the connection of your fingers - it is the sound of your middle finger hitting the base of your thumb.

3. Einstein was awarded the Nobel prize, not for his theory of relativity but for his less well known work on the photoelectric effect of light.

4. There is double jeopardy in this instance. In the U.S., a person can be tried twice for the same crime if it violates both federal and state law. In these cases the 5th amendment is overridden by a 1922 US Supreme Court decision.

5. The "rapture" is not in the Bible! Despite being believed by a large number of protestants (many of whom also believe that only that which is in the Bible can be true) it was actually invented the 1600's by one Cotton Mather - otherwise famous for murdering women by strangling them to death (by hanging) in the Salem witch trials. The term in the Bible commonly mistranslated to the word "rapture" actually comes from the Greek (harpazo) which actually means "caught up" or "taken away" and it refers to one person only (Philip).

Spreadin the Real: Yelawolf - Trunk Muzik 0-60

Though this album came out at the end of 2010 I still have to comment on it...You know when a album is good when the first time you listen to it you don't track through at least half of the songs...that's exactly what happened to me when I listened to Yelawolf's debut album (really just a mixtape)...i don't know if this album (mixtape) was critically acclaimed but it should be if its not...surprisingly its a very solid album that's original and entertaining...with features from Bun B, Gucci Mane (even though is not a great MC) and Raekwon let you know that 'the white boy from Alabama' is legit...I never listened to his mixtapes or even a song from Yelawolf before this album (besides from his feature on Big Boi's track 'Your DJ ain't no DJ') but I probably should have cuz I really like this album...

definitely go download, steal or buy this album...4 thumbs up

Spreadin the Real: How they used to do cartoons

Even though i've heard that Walt Disney was possibly an anti-semite and a racist, you can't question that he was an innovator, genius and incredibly creative artist...hell, the movies he created in the 40's are still watched by modern generations of kids and they love it...i have such appreciation for cartoon artists regardless if its drawn by hand (Family Guy, The Boondocks or old WB, Hanna Barbara cartoons) or done solely on the computer (Aqua Teen Hunger Force, South Park, Toy Story, Finding Nemo [my fav Disney movie])...it requires such time and talent to produce a good cartoon...

Spreadin the Real: Jay-Z's next album, a concept album

Read this article from HipHopDX about Young Guru (Roc-a-fella/Roc Nation's sound engineer) talking about Jay's next album:

Speaking first about the Jay’s collaborative album with Kanye West, Watch the Throne, Young Guru offered some promising information, “Watch The Throne is almost done.” When pressed on why it had been delayed slightly he elaborated, saying, “’Ye’s records grow. If you listen to a Kanye record when if first starts it’s in one form. And he adds stuff, takes away stuff. He’s a real perfectionist. So that’s what he does, he grows his records. We’re in the process of just finalizing the album.”

Next, board manipulator spoke on Jay-Z Blueprint III follow up, revealing that Jigga has a theme in mind for the record but holding back further details. “Once we get done with [Watch the Throne] Jay’s gonna start another album which I can’t tell you the concept of yet. [But] it’s an incredible concept,” Young Guru said, “It’s in a different lane; it’s a different thing for him to do. When people see it they’re gonna be like, 'Oh wow! He should have done that with, like, the first album!' It’s incredible.”

Spreadin the Real: The Game is caring

Game is a solid artist (like him or not)...peep the article where he talks about how he's one of the last artists that cares about hip hop...interesting read...peep it

West Coast rapper Game has dished out his thoughts on the rap game and why he may be the last of a dying breed of emcees who still maintains a strong passion for hip-hop.

From Game's perspective, too many artists have become consumed with the luxurious aspects of having a rap career.

"I just think that every now and then in hip hop, there's a dead space so we need some substance," he tells Billboard.com's The Juice. "I think that I just might be one of the last artists that really cares about hip hop and not rap, not the culture, not poppin' bottles, not the cars, chains, broads, I just actually care about nurturing and giving back to this sort of foundation on which I grew up on, which is real hip-hop." (Billboard)

The Black Wall Street leader also provided an update on his long-awaited R.E.D. Album release.

"The 'R.E.D.' album is going to remind everybody of what hip-hop is supposed to be in its prime," says Game. "The 'R.E.D.' album will be the best album this year hands down. There's nobody putting out an album this year that will even be able to compete with the skill level-- the bar is gonna be set after this album drops. I guarantee it now from start to finish." (Billboard)

Last summer, Game questioned the authenticity of rappers portraying a gangster lifestyle.

"All these people thinking they're gangsta. And after the Rick Ross song ["B.M.F."] everybody thinking they're Big Meech again, Larry Hoover," Game explained in an interview. "Nobody really should wanna be that or aspire to be that 'cause you're gonna end up in a coffin. And trust me, man, most of these rappers, outside of me, 50 [Cent], and maybe Waka Flocka and some other muthaf*ckas, ain't never felt bullets man, ain't never had a brush with really actually having your life erased. So a lot of these rappers out here playing, man; that's just not the message I'm trying to send across no more." (Complex)

Earlier this month, Game debuted his "Red Nation" album single.

Red alert! Game paints the town red with "Red Nation," the first single from his oft-delayed R.E.D. Album. The Cool & Dre-produced banger samples ZombieNation's techno hit "Kernkraft 400" and features none other than Lil Wayne. "N*ggas would trade their soul to be Drake or J. Cole/Live and die for this sh*t, word to Tupac Shakur's halo," raps the Compton MC before the recognizable chorus kicks in. (Rap-Up)

A release date for R.E.D. has not yet been announced.

Random Rant vol. 36: The fab 5

Back in the early 90's college basketball witnessed and was impacted greatly by a revolution of epic proportions...the revolution came by way of 5 black talented ball players that were part of the hip hop culture, The Fab 5 (Jalen Rose, Chris Webber, Juwan Howard, Jimmy King and Ray Jackson)...on Sunday, March 13, 2011 ESPN debuted the documentary about the five freshman Michigan Wolverine basketball players that "shocked the world" (to borrow a line from Juwan Howard who borrowed that famous quote from Muhammad Ali)...it was a great documentary (though Chris Webber didn't participate in the film) that took me back to when college basketball had more of an impact on the sports landscape than it does now...

I remember when I was 10 or 11 years old becoming a Michigan fan (due to the influence of my older cousin puttin' me on to the Fab 5)...everything about em was so dope, to the black socks (hard to believe now that was a so odd. I wear black socks often whether i'm playing basketball or not), to the Nike Huarache's & Nike Air Force Max (charles barkley's) and baggy shorts...back in '92 and '93 NO college hoops team had baggy shorts...everybody rocked shorts the John Stockton style (ie. nuthuggers)...to this day the reason I like the Nike Air Force Max so much is because the Fab 5 rocked em...

the impact the Fab 5 had on sports is incredible...they made people either hate or love em there was no in between...I definitely loved em and was hurt when they lost twice in the national championship to Duke and UNC (btw the ACC is still great. UNC '09 champs & Duke '10 champs [though I hate Duke])...when you look at the documentary you'll see the struggles and problems they had to go through, things I didn't know and I've seen about every documentary and story about the Fab 5...if you get a chance look it up, download it, stream it or something because its a good watch...

the thing that pissed me off though is how Michigan had to take the banners down because of the scandal that happened with Chris Webber...it had to do with a man in Detroit giving Chris some money when Chris was at Michigan while the university cashed in on merchandising revenue off of the Fab 5...Michigan didn't back the Fab 5 up they basically shunned them and do what every university/college caught up in a NCAA violation does, turn your back on players/coaches, vacate wins but still gets to keep the cash it earned from the backs of the players/coaches (a rant about NCAA rules especially when it comes to money is coming soon)....

Tip of the week #18: Text/write clearer

This is gonna be short and to the point...if you have a full QWERTY keyboard on your cell phone do NOT text me with damn near undecipherable text messages...i can understand if you had a phone that only had the normal 12 key keypad with each key sharing 3 characters...ok, shorten up the words so you won't have to hit one key 3 times to get the letter C....but if you have full keyboard don't shorten the 3 letter words with 1 letter or create some shortened words that don't make sense...one time someone texted me and it took me 4 minutes to figure out what the hell they were trying to say...

This tip also applies to writing emails, writing posts on facebook (no character limit there, its not Twitter)...I should not have to decipher simple english comments like its hieroglyphics...

Spreadin the Real: Lupe's ordeal about Lasers release

Lupe Fiasco is a dope ass MC, hands down...I loved the first 2 albums (especially liked the inventive, double entendre laced track "Gotta Eat" off the The Cool album) so I was expecting the 3rd album (Lasers) to be released shortly after "The Cool"...unfortunately it didn't end up that way (finally out now though)...read the article about the ordeal to get "Lasers" finally out to the public...peep the article:

The Cool" was released Dec. 18, 2007, and by Jan. 9, 2008, it had sold 198,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It eventually went gold. The album debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's rap chart and stayed there for nine weeks. At the next Grammys, "The Cool" won best rap album, along with best rap/sung collaboration and best rap song ("Superstar" with local singer Matthew Santos) and best rap solo performance ("Paris, Tokyo").

The successes capped a steady crescendo of acclaim. Fiasco -- born Wasalu Muhammad Jaco, raised around the South Side's Madison Terrace housing projects, a devout Muslim who abstains from alcohol and drugs -- had been signed to another major (Epic Records) at age 19 as a member of a gangsta rap group called Da Pak. With the assistance of Jay-Z (who calls Fiasco a "genius writer"), Fiasco moved to Atlantic, debuting with "Food & Liquor" in 2006, which featured production by friend and champion Kanye West and received critical raves for its bold sounds and intelligent wordplay.

So when Fiasco met with Atlantic to talk terms for his third album, he felt he was on pretty great footing.

"If 'The Cool' was a success, I was supposed to get a bump in the budget for my next record," Fiasco said. "When I went in to cash in on that, I was told 'The Cool' wasn't a success. I said, 'Well, how do you gauge that? Even if you leave off the multiple Grammys, the accolades up the ass, the platinum singles, take out the subjective stuff. How many records actually sold?' They said it wasn't a success and we're changing the game, we don't go by that anymore. So I said, 'Let's not have any more meetings until we figure out what rules we're playing by.'"

A stalemate began, and Fiasco started to squirm. At a 2008 performance in Chicago, he suggested he would retire, promising one final record to be titled "LupE.N.D." -- a three-CD concept album, with discs representing "everywhere," "nowhere" and "down here." He told Billboard that year: "My next record might be my last one." By June 2009, he promised an audience at the Chicago Theatre that a single disc, now called "The Great American Rap Album," would be out by December.

Meanwhile, Atlantic had frozen his budget, and Fiasco was asking to be let go. The label refused. Jay-Z was offering to mediate negotiations. Darrale Jones, Fiasco's A&R rep at Atlantic and the man who'd signed him, has told other publications that the music Fiasco continued to deliver "wasn't commercial enough." (Jones and other label execs were asked to comment for this story. After much deliberation, Atlantic Records on Wednesday released a prepared statement instead. It reads, in its entirety: "We fully support Lupe and the release of 'Lasers.'")

"I was specifically told" -- Fiasco chuckled -- "'Don't rap too deep on this record.'" He laughed some more. "That was a specific order from the top. 'You're rapping too fast or too slow, or it's too complex.' ... There are consequences and combat that comes from that process and the eventual compromise. With me, though, I'm not writing about someone else. I'm writing about me. This is my life. It's very personal for me. So for somebody to kind of put their fingers in that and play with that, it becomes more damaging."

Fiasco said he spiraled into real depression, even contemplating suicide -- but he kept writing. He documents his struggles, in a general way, throughout the song "Beautiful Lasers": "Sometimes livin' in a word like this / it's pretty hard not to go insane," he raps, later considering bailing back to the South Side ("Go home, sh--'s far too gone") and then peering into the abyss while hearing contradicting internal voices:

All you see is all my rights
All I see is all my wrongs
Door keep telling me to fight
Gun on my table telling me to come home
Telling me to to put him inside my hand
Then put it up right next to my dome
Door keep telling me to find a reason
Anything to keep me from squeezing
Simplest things, yeah, you really like summer
You really like music, you really like reading, love
I can't win if it's me against me
One of us ain't gonna survive

"He started doing that record on stage, and I was shocked," said Jason Evans, a k a JROC, Fiasco's cousin who works A&R for Fiasco's Chicago-based independent label, First & 15th Productions. "He would introduce it, he'd say, 'I wrote this record when I was at a real down point in my life.' It was like a confession. That's how I found out, and we talked throughout that tour. It was shocking that he'd come so low because he's so mentally strong. ... He's 100 percent Muslim, very religious, and his father instilled all kinds of moral strength into his upbringing. It had to be bad if it came to that."

Doing his duty

Fiasco's fans tried to have his back. When summer of 2010 rolled around and still no news of the new album, two protest marches were scheduled in New York and Chicago. Dan Winchester, a local video producer, organized the Oct. 15 ("Fiasco Friday") event here. Even though the release date was announced a few days before, about 200 fans still showed up at Buckingham Fountain that afternoon and marched north along Michigan Avenue, carrying signs of support.

"Instead of an outright protest, it became a statement march," Winchester said. "We definitely made a statement -- that we support positive music, that we're not going to stand for corporations watering down music to be all pop and all sound the same. Once you sign a contract like that, they control everything about it. That's what they've been doing with Lupe, and we wanted to stand with him and against that corporate meddling."

Fiasco heard about the planned protest online. "Somebody kept spamming my Twitter page about it, the same guy, over and over," he said. "I was like, all right, chill out. But they really meant it. It was a full-on, full-blown angry protest. Then we had the meeting with Atlantic and they set a date, so it became a celebration. They still had 250 kids out there [in New York]. ... I went. I had to see it with my own two eyes."

Fiasco said the confluence of collective action and movement at Atlantic helped bring him around.

"I'm OK now. I'm happy, I'm stable," he said. "I've distanced myself from the situation emotionally and spiritually. It doesn't affect me. I found a nice balance to navigate through it without it leading to me killing myself, literally."

The process of finishing "Lasers" he described with words one hates to hear from a creative artist. He "hunkered down" and "got through it." He "went along," he "acquiesced." He "found some emotional distance from the music." He "lost those aspirations."

"I am a hostage," Fiasco said. "I gave them what they wanted. If I didn't, at the end of the day the album wasn't coming out."

"The Great American Rap Album" was recorded simultaneously with "Lasers." It's a "different sound" and should be released by the end of this year, he said. After that, maybe a greatest hits.

Meanwhile, Fiasco talks like a bored cubicle worker watching the clock, waiting for quitting time.

"There are certain expectations I don't have anymore. There are certain things I'll keep for myself now until they can be received the way I want them to be received. You'll still get albums, and they'll be good."

Random Rant vol. 35: Randomly rantin'

WARNING: I WILL BE LACING THIS POST WITH FOUL, OBSCENE LANGUAGE

This rant is not about one specific thought its just me blurtin' thoughts out...at my age i've fully figured out who I am and I'm totally comfortable with that...i have shortcomings that I've embraced and realize is a part of me...like I don't show emotions, I don't like to talk about my feelings to anyone nor show emotion...bout the only emotion I show often is happiness through laughter...I guess I still have some 'caveman' qualities or turn of the century man ideologies of showing emotion as a man is a sign of weakness...these emo dudes out here in my opinion favor women rather than men (soft lil bastards)...

I don't like being pressured or persuaded into anything I really DON'T wanna do...i don't like when a sales assistant in a clothing store tries to sell me clothes...or a car salesman tries to sell me a car...or those annoying fucks in the vendors in the mall hallways try to sell me some hand cream BS or when someone tries to convince me or corner me into a situation to get what they want...its so cotdamn aggravating

here in the U.S. some holidays are discouraging and cumbersome...like Valentine's Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas...2 of the 3 holidays i mentioned are supposed to be joyous occasions with friends and family...but for me the past 5 years has been aggravation and mentally draining...having to worry about gifts, if I have enough money for gifts, where I'm going for the holidays, who i'm spending the holidays with, the cold weather, the traffic and the people that cause the traffic...by Dec. 5 I can't wait to celebrate New Years because I wouldn't have to think and deal with this 'gobdy gook' (gobdy gook means 'shit' in PG rated terms)...Valentine's Day is just annoying in every single way (damn i'm like the Valentine's Day Grinch)

fuck the recession, fuck my job, fuck college education (only because it drains people's bank account paying high tuition), damn Sallie Mae and damn these high ass gas prices...10 dollars won't even get me 3 gallons of gas, ugh...

Tosh.0 is a funny show, if you haven't seen it watch it...his commentary about viral videos from the 'net is offensive and hilarious...and i wish Chappelle's Show had a full 3rd season (greatest skit show of the 21st century)...hard to believe its been 5 years since the last episode

and facebook is straight but i'm starting to get bothered that people know so much about me (my relationship status, what i did the night before, who i was with)..i'm really considering just not fuckin with it anymore...

Dudes if you wear skinny or super slim jeans, how is it comfortable for your nuts to breathe?...if I wear dress pants that feel a lil too snug I get incredibly uncomfortable...can't really understand dudes in skinny jeans, seems a lil feminine...

Random Rant vol. 34 - Everybody wanna be black but nobody wanna be black

Paraphrased words from the legendary comedian Paul Mooney (one of my all time fav comedians) are still oh so true in the 21st century...the actual phrase Paul Mooney said was "Everybody wanna be a nigga but nobody wanna be a nigga"...this simply means everyone wants to use ideas, styles and the demeanor of black people's culture but nobody actually wants to be black...I think this applies not only to non-black people but even black people (in the literal sense of not wanting to be black)....i don't know if its the lighting or make up (most likely neither) but I'm starting to notice a lot of black entertainers lightening up (M. Jackson style)....below is a picture of Lil Kim in the 90's and now

besides from the hideous plastic surgery jobs that mangled her face and body, notice the blotchy skin around the eyes...Lil Kim is clearly lightening her skin to appear white (i remember when I had a dream I was 'gettin loose' with Lil Kim [Kim from "How many licks" video] and woke up thinking it really happened. Damn Kim, we want that ol Kim back)...now even though Sammy Sosa is not black he's still a man of color (and in some people's eyes he is considered black since his skin is dark) and he's clearly bleaching his skin, look below at his before and now

what the hell Sammy...and he's telling the media that he has a skin disease, I highly doubt that...and here's the latest pic of a black celeb that looks damn near white....

that's Beyonce, now I know she isn't as dark as Sheryl Underwood (black comedienne, google her) but I know she isn't this light...what's really goin' on with black celebs not wanting to have their natural, nice dark or slightly dark skin tone...

when I refer to black people i'm specifically talking about African-Americans (i personally like the term Negro, it sounds powerful)...the African-American culture is one the most borrowed from cultures in all of the world...from the original music, everyday used innovations & inventions, food, slang vernacular, overall 'swag' (don't like using that term because its sooooo overused) and body type (every female now has or wants an ass rather its artificial or natural. Even females want full lips by using botox or surgery) every other culture has borrowed it...but on the flip side of it African-Americans are still the most 'shit' on culture in all of the world...Africans don't want be grouped in with African-Americans, in the U.S. all the other races (non-white) look down on us and some people still think we are the bottom feeders of a North American society...its rather sad

all i'm saying is be proud to be black don't be ashamed...yeah I eat fried chicken, I like watermelon, I want my food spicy, like loud music and like women who are not a size 0...you don't see Italians being ashamed of eating pasta (they are ashamed of 'MTV's Jersey Shore' though) or Asians being ashamed of eating rice...embrace your culture and looks, in the words of James Brown "Say it loud, I'M BLACK AND I'M PROUD"

p.s. - Represent Black History Month, learn at least one new thing for the month

Spreadin the real: The Blake show in Toronto

Reggie Evans who was inactive Sunday night (2.13.10) for Toronto when they played the Clippers had a comment stating Blake Griffin isn't someone I would go see and I don't know why there's all this hype (i'm paraphrasing)...basically he's showing his hatin' colors because you can clearly see why he's a fan favorite and why people pay money to see him...peep the new highlight of Mr. Griffin (in a road loss)...

p.s. - damn it seems like I'm a Blake Griffin superfan and a 'stan'...can't help it tho, dude is a human highlight film (shout out to the original human highlight film, Dominique Wilkins)..

Spreadin the Real: Trick shots from a quarterback

Many you have already seen the basketball trick shot videos from the dudes in Texas (i forgot the name the go by)...here's a new twist on the trick shot vids...UConn Sophomore quaterback Johnny McEntee has never thrown a pass in game yet but did this video to show off his accuracy...i don't care if it took him 3 days to 1 week to shoot this vid, its an incredibly impressive show of throwing skill...if he's this accurate with pads on with D-linemen coming at him, he will destroy the Big East opposition (when he gets the playing time)....peep the insanity...

Innovations: MIDI pro adapter for Rock Band

On the heels of the annoucement of Activision disbanding the Guitar Hero division in the company (no more Guitar Hero releases and possibly DJ Hero is going to stop because they are going to lay off people in the DJ Hero division like the did in the Guitar Hero division. The sales were declining also for Guitar Hero), Rock Band is continuing to strive...Mad Catz, the well known 3rd party hardware company released a MIDI pro adapter for the Rock Band...this basically means if you already on a keyboard or guitar with a MIDI connection (as most do) you can play the instrument you already own for Rock Band...this is a great hardware piece...peep the article:

Talk about just in time. With merely weeks to go before Mr. Claus makes his wintry journey 'round the globe, Mad Catz has decided to finally ship a peripheral that was introducedway back in June. Without a doubt, the MIDI Pro adapter is one of the more intriguing music game accessories to hit the open market, enabling Rock Band 3 owners to use mostMIDI keyboards and drum sets with the title. The box is shipping as we speak for Sony's PS3 and Nintendo's Wii, and the Xbox 360 variant should be headed to Best Buy in the coming hours. If you'll recall, this guy's also designed to work with the forthcoming Rock Band 3 Squier guitar / controller, and it even features a velocity sensitive adjustment for MIDI drums designed to reduce cross-talk during play. At $39.99, it's a no-brainer for those who already own a MIDI instrument or two, but we just might be more excited about the hacking possibilities than anything else. DIYers, get at it!

Innovations: Doctor's using phones to ultrasound?

Peep this article about in the future doctor's may be able to give ultrasounds to preggers with their phone...incredible...

MobiUS is a simple medical ultrasound imaging system like many others—but it has one rather astonishing plus: All you need is the wand, some gel, and a smartphone.

Mobisante is the firm behind the new technology, and it's just announced that the MobiUS has received FDA approval for use in the U.S. MobiUS is, according to its makers, the "world's first" smartphone-based commercial ultrasound imaging system, offering a degree of portability rarely seen before for this type of non-invasive medical imaging. It's also much more affordable than traditional ultrasound systems, which typically take up a whole roller-tray of space in doctor's offices. And, while they do offer more precise tools and a larger viewscreen, traditional models seem to rely on dedicated hardware that costs more to produce and run than a simple smartphone.

MobiUS, in contrast, is small enough to slip into a bag, and thanks to the Wi-Fi and cell phone services offered by the Windows Mobile system in the accompanying smartphone, it's actually easier to share digital images with other clinicians for consults, and with the parents of unborn babies. The size, simplicity, and portability of the device is key for Mobisante's plans to boost the powers of rural and remote medical professionals, who may suffer from limited resources, and it's exactly the kind of device that could provide useful medical data in an emergency situation far from the coziness of the ER or ob-gyn unit.

Considering that the FDA also just approved its first iPhone app, MobileMIM (designed to help doctors view and assess diagnostic imagery in rich interactive ways not possible with printouts), it seems the smartphone—and its larger cousin the tablet—will be a more standard feature of your doctor's medical toolset in the future. It also seems the FDA is moving to regulate the scene, which is a vital move considering the wealth of non-approved medical apps that are already available on the market.

Random Rant vol. 33: LeBron was Cleveland's economy

At the time I'm writing this rant on Monday, February 7, 2011 the Cleveland Cavs have set an NBA record for consecutive losses in a season at 24...before July 2010 the only, I'm mean the ONLY thing the city of Cleveland had goin for them was LeBron James and the Cavs...the economy stinks, the jobs in the area are either gone or left for another city, all of the sports teams suck (Indians worst in the division and since the Browns returned they haven't had a decent steady QB and only 1 playoff appearance since '99)

when the Cavs drafted LeBron the city had hope...during his tenure in Cleveland he recorded 2 back to back 60 win seasons, took em to a Finals (got swept though) and made the team watchable and competitive...then doomsday happened when he decided to "take his talents to South Beach"...I totally understand why the fans were crying, sobbing, mad at him while burning his jersey...its because they knew he was the only shining light in the entire city...Joakim Noah was prolly telling the truth when he said there's nothing to do in Cleveland, I just stay in my hotel room (i'm paraphrasing)...LeBron was the factor that was keeping businesses and restaurants afloat...people came out to 'Witness' LeBron and when they were out they spent money therefore progressing the economy in the city

Dan Gilbert (owner of the Cavs) knew his team was going to be bad (prolly didn't know they were going to be this HOOORRIBBLE [in my worst Charles Barkley impression]) after Bron Bron left...that was the reason he wrote that scathing email about LeBron and stupidly said the Cavs will win a championship before LeBron does...I feel bad for Cavs fans and Cleveland inhabitants because its seems they have no glimmer of hope...reminds me of this video

so my words to Cleveland are keep hope alive and pray that you get lucky enough to draft another super talent in the draft in the next 5 years...cuz the way its looking this losing streak may get extended to 30 games...DAMN!

p.s. - I hope Cleveland doesn't end up like these pics of Detroit (and these are abondoned churches! There isn't even hope in God's house in D-Town)...

Spreadin the Real: Game - Purp and Patron mixtape

This year of 2011 is still fairly new so this next proclamation might sound a little too early...but The Game's "Purp and Patron" mixtape is the best of 2011 (so far)...the original dj version is good but I like the No DJ version (since there are no drops from Skee and Funk Flex)...about every song is hard and you can really tell Game put all of his heart and effort into it...according to Game's latest interview, he spent 40K making the mixtape and so far since its recent release it has 1 million downloads...I gotta say this is his most solid release since his 2nd album "Doctor's Advocate" (one of my fav albums of the 2000's)...so with that said download it here ....and peep the interview by Rolling Stone with Game about the mixtape here

Tip of the Week #17 - Female's know your weight

This is not a problem rather an epidemic of females not knowing their own weight and what they should put on...the pic above is a classic example of a female not knowing that she is too cotdamn big to be wearing those particular fitting clothes...i mean this is got to be common sense right!?...if I put a pair of pants on and I have to jump into them because they are too tight, then I know that I shouldn't wear em (skinny jeans are not the business for dudes I don't give a damn who you are. Straight leg jeans are ok but they should not be skin tight on dudes)...apparently females have not received this vital memo...

I've seen females with stomachs as large as your favorite NFL offensive lineman wearing belly shirts or tight fitting shirts that show off every unpleasant roll...i've also witnessed females with big butts (not to be confused with big nice asses or 'backyards', i'm talking about huge non attractive butts) tryin to wear small boy shorts...and the worse are females who stand at 'bout 5'1" that weigh at least 204 lbs wearin' the popular 'yoga' tight pants...damn using the wtf abbreviation i just have to say it, WHAT THE FUCK! that looks terrible...

so the tip for this week is females know your weight, your size and what's appropriate to wear...because damn your self esteem and how you 'think' it looks good on you, stop wearing small clothes 'cuz it embarrasses me to see you look that sloppy...

p.s. I know this sounds harsh but damn it, it needs to be said

Random Rant vol. 32: Emo Facebookin'

I guess this is just another instance of my grumpy old man personality poking his crotchety head out, but people letting their emotions and little gripes out on their Facebook status' is annoying as hell...now I shouldn't be annoyed or aggravated or disgruntled about this because Facebook allows you to get out your frustrations and socialize with friends and family but DAMN!... most of the time I don't wanna hear about it...

I see status posts about "how someone did me wrong and they are some backstabbing people that I know so forth and so on" or "today my best friend didn't listen to my problems so I'm going to tell all of the 'Facebook fam' (FBF for short) about my trials"...boo freakin hoo!!! ...i don't wanna hear about your little emotional problems with your boyfriend/girlfriend, best friend, long lost friend, enemy that used to be your friend, etc. ...i like reading status posts about funny stuff, current event happenings or where/what your doing (even though that's kinda of irrelevant and trivial)...

I know this rant will do nothing to deter some emo Facebook status updates, I just had to let my 'old man' feelings out...F'n emo Facebookers....
