Spreadin the Real: Common confirms 'Sweet' directed to Drake

Common has been one of the most consistent solid hip hop artists for 10+ years (even during the Electric Circus era he was dope, i personally liked the Electric Circus album) ...his latest album The Dreamer/The Believer is dope and the track "Sweet" is getting much attention...this is due to the fact the Common's lyrics are directed to the OVOXO's Drake...I like Drake also but have to admit he is a little emo but his music and talent is undeniable (Take Care is also a great album though its more RnB than Hip Hop but its still ill) ...

check the video of Common on Sway's morning show talking about the track 'Sweet'...

p.s. - you can listen to the track on my latest mixtape (shameless plug) digital skill sector 1.5...here's the link

Spreadin the Real: Common reflects on the classic "Be"

When I first heard this album I knew it was a classic...in 2005 Common released the album "Be" that was produced mainly by KanYe West...this album is a classic because the music production was ridiculous, the lyrics were on point and you can listen to the album all the way through without skipping one track...peep Common aka Common Sense reflect on the making of the album...

Stuff of hilarity/Spreadin the real: There's still debate over Common at WH!?

Though Common already did his performance at the White House poetry slam, FOX news is still talking about how he shouldn't have been invited to the White House over the song he did about Assata Shakur about 4 albums ago (dope song by the way featuring Cee-Lo)...I swear this is so stupid how FOX news drones on and on about insignificant shit its pathetic...but John Stewart once again shows how trivial, hypocritical and retarded FOX news is when appears on Bill O'Reilly's show (btw I know its old but did you see how blatantly disrespectful O'Reilly was during the Super Bowl interview he had with Pres. Obama. He was condescending and bold as hell as an interviewer towards the head of state. I guarantee he would not have been that bold to Pres. Bush or any other Republican president)...peep the real hilarity...

Stuff of hilarity: John Stewart gets at Fox News about Common

The whole issue with Common going to the White House was some bullshit that Fox News made a story out of nothing significant...Fox News is retarded and so contrived its sad...John Stewart once again points out their hypocritical coverage...its hilarious and Fox News once again are the most biased "news" channel on the planet...peep the truthful hilarity...

Random Rant vol. 28: Common - Be album circa 2005

You know when you talk to your parents or aunts & uncles they tell you that the music they listen to is better than what we listen to...well I knew I would eventually be that person that would say that to people younger than me but I didn't know it would happen this fast...i'm only 28 years old and I say that the music (hip hop music I'm speaking of) of the 90's and early early 00's was better than the mainstream stuff now...

they also say that an artist's album had to be good from start to finish because there was no such thing as tracking or fast forwarding an album (even though if you had vinyl you could change a song by picking up the needle and moving it)...you couldn't fast forward a 8-track cassette (my dad still has one [not in use though] and he actually owns an 8-track adapter for a cassette car stereo, damn that's throwback) so all the content had to be good, no filler songs...now that is true because even in the 90's hip hop artists had filler songs on albums...

but I wanna speak about an album that came out in 2005 that's a classic album for the artist and genre...that album is Common's "Be"...from start to finish the songs are impactful, full of lyrics, artistry and originality...produced mainly by KanYe West, Common went back to his soulful hip hop roots (unlike the eclectic "Electric Circus" album that I still think was dope)...you can actually listen to the album all the way through without tracking one song (a rare event in this era of the music industry)...if you haven't listened to it in a while I recommend you go back in the archives and give it another listen...its dope ish

p.s. - Soulja Boy sucks (there goes my old man hate flaring up again)
